How did I get to the USA?
I am German. I emigrated to the USA in 2003 because my then husband, who was stationed in Germany, was supposed to return to the USA. We hadn't actually planned to stay in the USA for long, just temporarily. But things turned out differently. Shortly after we moved to the USA, he was sent to Afghanistan and came back a broken man.
He didn't want a family anymore and he didn't want me either.
So he broke up with me.
separation
Shortly before the separation, we lost our house, our car and our home. We were temporarily housed in a hotel until it became clear that he would receive a pension. Then we moved into a new house and he disappeared.
As it later turned out, he met a younger woman.
I received no maintenance or help from the state. I worked as a passenger and paid for my driver's license so I could drive a truck myself. I met my new partner, who was helping me with the house and the children at the time.
I was also able to afford a lawyer who helped me to sue for child support for the two girls who had to give up their father. It all ended up in court, where I was told that I was not allowed to leave the country until my youngest daughter turned 18. After all, the American father had a right to contact with his children.
I had to make the best of the situation. With hard work I was able to build the house shown above
finance. After all, the five of us lived there comfortably and quietly.

I miss everyone...

My daughter and I have been living alone with our animals for almost 3 years. Actually, it is time for me
to concentrate on myself or even to live. I haven't seen most of my children and grandchildren who live in Germany since 2019. My eldest daughter, who supports me here with this website, was here in 2023 and invited us on a trip to the USA. She was the only one who was here every few years, sometimes with 2 of my grandchildren. My parents can't support me. My mother died in 2016 and my father lives with my daughter, who cares for him. Contact with Germany is via the Internet. I miss everyone. A lot of time that we could have spent together has been lost. I am now also a great-grandmother, but unfortunately only know my great-grandchildren from video chat.
2019 - not a nice event, but a loss of one of my grandchildren, led to this reunion.
